Our Logo
A Symbol of
Who We Are
In 2024, HPF embarked on a deep and thoughtful internal review, leading to a refreshed visual identity that reflects the profound transformation of our organization. With kākou from Native Hawaiian artist and designer Brandy Alia-Serikaku, we created a mark that not only guides us—but now stands as the source of our identity.
We extend our deepest mahalo to Brandy for bringing our vision to life with such artistry and talent!

The HPF Logo incorporates symbolic elements that reflect the organization’s values and mission:

Lau Koa (Koa Leaf): Embodies strength, resilience, and a deep sense of care for the community. As one of the tallest trees in the native forest, the koa plays a vital role in sustaining life, with its leaves nourishing the understory by feeding wai to the ecosystem below. The koa is a significant tree in Hawaiian culture, symbolizing the vessel that carried our kupuna across the Pacific.

Wai (Waterfall and Ocean Waves): The graceful shape of the koa leaf refelcts the flowing motion of waterfalls and the rhythm of ocean waves, symbolizing our journey to each other and the ripple effect of HPF’s work. It also represents the deep interconnectedness and enduring ties within our community and across the broader Pacific region.

Hōkūpa’a (North Star): Our guiding light and steadfast star, symbolizing divine guidance and being on the right path.
Together these concepts represent our journey to each other and the ripple effect of HPF’s work. It represents guidance as told by the star element represents being guided, guarded, and on the right path. Our logo also suggests hope, growth, and reaching a destination. Finally, it emphasizes connection and the interconnectedness of ‘āina, ‘ohana (family), and Akua (divine).
