Pū’ā Foundation

Impact Type: Health & Well-being

Location: Honolulu, Hawai’i

The Pūʻā Foundation is a non-profit organization created in 1996. Specializing in “Trauma to Transformation” programming specifically for women and girls, they develop community resources through organizing, capacity building, and training. Their focus is on strengthening families affected by trauma and incarceration, striving toward community and individual healing and well-being. They promote efforts to reconcile the past with the present, building a better future together as a Hawaiian community. Their vision is that through pū`ā—the process of feeding, nourishing, and strengthening—enlightened and empowered communities and societies will emerge. The foundation identifies and strategizes solutions to complex social issues, connecting partnerships with key community resources to create meaningful change.
